Top reasons to study in the UK

Known for its world-class education, diversity, and bustling student cities, the United Kingdom (UK) has become a popular study destination for international students. The Uk is home to some of the world’s oldest universities and colleges, as far back as the 12th and 13th centuries.

Creating a benchmark for other countries, the UK has the best academic standards globally. QS World Ranking 2019 shows four out of the top 10 universities in the world are from the UK, the likes of Oxford and Cambridge. Degrees from UK higher education institutions are highly regarded across the world, with a wide range of courses to choose from.

The UK is the world’s second most popular destination for international students, accounting for 22% of the student population. It is a diversified country with a large number of foreign students and various cultures.

So, why should you think about studying in the United Kingdom?

Top reasons why you should study in the UK

Quality Education

UK educational standards are highly regarded by specialists in many academic disciplines, topping worldwide university rankings. With over 100 universities to choose from, universities in the UK are well-known for their R&D skills, medical, as well as arts, and humanities degrees. These degrees are highly valued by companies, providing you a competitive edge in the graduate job market, whether in the UK or internationally.

 Shorter duration of courses

Courses in the UK education system are shorter and more intensive than in many other nations. An undergraduate degree may be completed in three years, while a graduate program can take a year. These not only save you time, but they also save you money on tuition and living expenses.

Working while learning

You can work part-time for up to 20 hours per week during term time to help you manage your daily living costs while also studying. During your semester break, you can even work full-time. Part-time work is a great chance to not only bump up your bank account but gain new skills and meet new people.

Explore Europe while studying.

The UK is well connected to major European countries like France, the Netherlands, and Belgium, being the closest at distances ranging from 300 to 1,000 miles. With the airport being functional 24 hours, you can explore different places while studying in the country.

Health benefits for students

As an international student, you will have access to free medical treatment while studying in the UK through the National Health Service (NHS). All you have to do is to pay a small International Health Surcharge (IHS).

Cultural diversity

Fourteen percent of the population in the UK are foreigners. This means international students who move overseas to the UK could have the opportunity to learn about numerous different cultures and make friends with people from around the world. You might also be able to stay closely connected with your own culture, through attending community events or visiting restaurants that serve food from home.

There are job opportunities after graduation.

The UK government recently created an opportunity for international Bachelor’s and Master’s students to apply for a two-year extended visa after graduation, while international doctorate students can stay for 3 years. This makes it easier for new professionals to settle and begin their careers in the UK.  There are also lots of career opportunities. In the UK, there is a shortage of nurses, pharmacists, teachers, engineers, and more. As a result, the government actively recruits professionals for these positions from abroad.
